I saw a guy solved it in around 2 minutes as well ... blindfolded! It was shown in a Chinese show called Guess!Guess!Guess! The host even scrambled it randomly, then the guy memorized it for a while, put on the blindfold and solved it.

Yeah, like Pelf said, I can finish it in less than 2 minutes. Less than 1 on good days. It just takes time to learn and someone to teach you in the beginning.
You still can buy the original ones though. I myself bought the special 25th anniversary special last year. But I practice on cheap ones which don't move as well as the original. The original ones wear out their colour quickly, then again...I play them everyday since I take public transport.
I can tell you one thing though. It's definitely a party piece to master. Done right, wins the ladies and gets you free booze during happy hour. It's a geeks speciality alright. :)

Someone taught me. So in the beginning, it took me 3 days to finish it. Then eventually it was all about taking the time down. 2 days. 1 day. 6 hours. An hour. You get the picture.
I had a lot of time on my hands going to and fro from work, so back then being depressed and having the person who taught me constantly challenging me to do it faster, I managed to bring it down to under 2 minutes in less than 3 months.
But then I do have the Rubik's Complex. Can't leave any puzzle unsolved. Maybe that's why as well.
